Meet the Artist
Glasgow, United KingdomOk here goes. I studied Fine Art so I call myself an Artist. Through many, many years of being an artist (or calling myself one) I worked in a variety of jobs, as we do in order to pay bills, live, eat, pacify others. For that reason, I chose to most of the time paint what it was that I felt, something that isn't anywhere else...yet, something that wouldn't be reproducable by a machine, something that conveyed my emotions and what was my way of conversing with the world without words. My music, my visual language has grown and developed through the years. Looking at paintings and other artists for as long as I have has fuelled my imagination and theories about what makes a painting that contains skill, sincerity, honesty and integrity. If it has those properties it will hopefully have longevity. The physical presence of a well executed painting excites me. The battle and challenge to create these objects never fails to help me discover what's inside me. Some works were created at dark times in my life yet they are full of rich colour which surprises me. I look at my work and feel satisfied that these objects are visually succesful and should have a life long after mine has ended. I worked and work when called upon in the theatre too as a Director and Designer with predominately new plays (so very little money there too!) Hey, I'm alive and as far as I know I've not emotionally damaged anyone!
