Fetish by Anastasia Kurakina in London

Fetish

Fetish cm30x40 ink on paper 2010 In 2011 this artwork wins the First Prize «“City of Tolentino “ of the International Biennale of Humor in Art in Tolentino, Italy and remains in the Museum’s permanent collection. Motivation of the Jury: “It tells about the conditions of an artist in the 19th century. With a vision- ary signs of vertiginous accuracy it describes the Wheel of Time’s work in art as a perpetual recy- cling and reuse of objects, stylistic features and ideas». In 2013 the artwork takes part in Anastasia Kurakina’s personal exhibition at the International Museum of Humor in Art in Tolentino. “Fetish” is part of “life of Death’”ironic project. It is an endless series of works depicting hobbies, predilections and everyday life of Death. It lives behind the clock face, like in prison, waiting for the clock to strike the hour. Death launders, reads, knits, watches TV, writes books, plays with its tablet, mobile phone. The non-existent Latin number ‘IIX’ is the hour Death will pass away. In this context, Death is a metaphor of reincarnation and changes.
