Fashion Sketch by Ava Childs in Alameda

I am a San Francisco Bay Area native, who works across a multitude of mediums and a range of environments. I have been drawing ever since I can remember, and received my formal education studying Illustration at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. During a break from my studies, I travelled to Paris, France, where I spent 3 years exposed to French culture and language. While there, I soaked up the vibrant art scene, which included music, fashion, and theatre. Keeping my drawing skills sharp, I would spend free time sketching from cafes all over Paris, and even did some illustration for a local English language publication. Upon my return to the States, I switched my focus to Apparel design, which, among other studies, would incorporate my skills in rendering clothed figure drawing. My career has included costume design from sketch to realization, fashion technical line drawings and full color fashion illustration. I also love to draw animals, and enjoy doing portraits. Coming from a background in theatre, I am drawn to movement, drama, and a bit of glamour! I love using shades of grey with a pop of dynamic color for emphasis.
