Expressing your way with materials and texture by Alena Rogozhkina in Edinburgh
Expressing your way with materials and texture
This experimental workshop was aimed to encourage an understanding the unique properties of materials to communicate ideas and meaning. The theme of this class was to build an imaginary future city using random materials that often are ordinary waste. Both adults and children co-created their projects together. Credit for photography to a media artist Cecilia Volpi.
Meet the Artist
Edinburgh, United KingdomI am an Edinburgh based visual research artist driven by art, contemporary spirituality and community wellbeing. I link both my background in behavioural science and contemporary art practice to explore what limits us as humans to have a better everyday reality. I work with a range of mediums including installation. printmaking, painting, photography and moving image. My practice is focused on experimentation with materials focusing on intuitive art process of creation. I often collect abandoned objects that lost their identities. They usually attract me either for their texture, shape or colour and then I abstract their lives into new stories. I also love sharing my practice with people and co-creating together. I run workshops and creative experiences to help communities to express their true emotions and find who they are if there is a challenging transition in their lives.
