El Rincon de la Cultura mainly features SIX alebrijes of my own design surrounded by flower and plant elements in the style of “tenango,” a style of embroidery which originated in the Tenango de Doria, from the Sierra Otomí-Tepehua municipality in the Mexican state of Hidalgo 💚💛🧡❤️🩷 Alebrijes are imaginary animals in Mexican post colonial folklore that are hybrids of different animals and have fantastical patterns and colors, like geometrical patterns and elements of the natural world. My goal was to open up the space by enhancing the light with a white wall and using colorful palette to bring joy to the audience as well as those magical people who work at La Chingona.
