eGO 2023
eGO (2023) shows a girl with an extremely huge head. Donning a pink yukata does not tame her self-importance; her head was too huge! Being the only part of conscious personality, the ego influences what a person is aware of when they think about themselves and what they usually try to project toward others. The absence of ears embodies how one behaves when their ego grew out of proportion; they stop listening actively. eGO (2023) thus reminds us to regulate our self-esteem to avoid becoming too prideful.
Meet the Artist
London, United KingdomI am a contemporary Asian fibre artist who explore the human conditions through Surrealistic miniature subjects in a crazy convoluted world. Influenced by Surrealist Rene Magritte, multidisciplinary pop artist Murakami Takashi, and micro sculptor Willard Wigan, I blend imaginary creatures with pop culture references to construct mini sculptures with huge presence.
For commission works, I am open to work with various mediums and styles based on my client's requests. If you're looking for a highly unique portrait with crazy colours and lots of details instead of a replica of reality, book a commission with me.
My personal works include felt sculptures detailed with fabric paint, laser glitter, glass, beads, ribbons, sequins and other decorative materials. I also produce digital landscapes and collages with elements of Dadaism. If you are in love with art toys, each month I release 9 new miniature art dolls everyone in a tiny window box that comes with a hand-painted portrait. I am currently on expanding my art into larger paintings and sculptures. My next group exhibition is in October 2023, Singapore. Details will be updated on my social media and email newsletters.
Growing up, adults and peers see me as an eccentric person. In fact, I have undiagnosed mild autism and ADHD, which enables me to work for long hours, visualise multiple creative ideas simultaneously, and focus on tiny details, thus utilising these two conditions as my superpowers. My close brush with death in 2003 due to a severe asthma attack and a few times in 2020 as a result of sleep disorders fuelled my curiosity in mortality, therefore exploring the human condition through my art.
