Dundalk Street Art 'Right am away'
Street art and hand painted murals can play a creative role in celebrating the character of a place and its people. In Dundalk, Co. Louth, contemporary creative arts project - EPSO - explores language culture through type-based street art & creative expression.EPSO reveals the unique relationship the people of Dundalk have with the English language - it’s synonymous with their local culture & identity. Vanessa was invited to design an original piece of street art of the Dundalk expression ‘Right am away’ - their way of saying ‘I’m leaving”.
Meet the Artist
Ballinamore, IrelandLettering and mural artist Vanessa Power, specializes in the creation of unique custom lettering, type-based murals, and hand-painted signs. Her vibrant style acts as a bridge between the traditional craft of sign painting and the captivating aesthetic of the pop art movement. Through her bold typography, Vanessa effortlessly communicates a contemporary and timeless urban sensibility.
Vanessa has had the privilege of working with some of the worlds most recognised brands, including Jameson, Google, Facebook, AirBnB, Kildare Village, Eir Ireland, The Irish Times and numerous other national and international companies. By collaborating with these brands, Vanessa assists in crafting large-scale murals and bespoke design solutions that not only generate conversations among customers but also inspire and motivate teams. Her artwork often features colloquial phrases and positive slogans, uplifting and inspiring viewers.
In addition to creating office murals and street art, Vanessa utilises her lettering expertise across various mediums to infuse charm, sophistication, and warmth into people's homes. She meticulously crafts hand-cut word-based mosaics, elegant Tiffany-style stained glass pieces, and implements the timeless art of gold leaf on glass.
