The Dolphin Rodeo has to be one of the most fun requests I have received for a mural painting. This painting lives in a tattoo studio and was created for the owner who has a very creative and eccentric personality with an appetite for the fun and silly side of life and I wanted that represented in this artwork. I created this painting using only aerosol cans and took about 12 hours to complete.
Before tattooing, Vaughn studied visual arts at the University of South Australia, where he majored in drawing and painting. Needless to say, art is more than just a hobby for him; he lives to create and creates to live. Tattooing was the ideal career that catered to his passion to create art and constant drive to improve the work which in turn contributes to his growth as a person.
Vaughn does not adhere to a single tattooing style, instead strives to adapt to the demands of the customer and aims to be the most flexible artist he can be. In saying that, he embraces a challenge, whether it's covering an existing tattoo or conceptualising a collection of ideas into a fluent and stylish design you'll be happy to wear for the rest of your life. However, the style he enjoys the most is fine line black and grey style.
Nothing makes him happier than pushing his ideas and artistic talents, whether it's screen-printing his own merchandise or customising skateboards. He believes that expressing himself via numerous forms of media keeps him motivated and inspired, compelling him to do his best work inside the tattoo studio. As art imitates life, Vaughn models his life to imitate art.
