Francesco Principato Large scale Mural Artist Francesco Principato (Pistoia, November 24, 2000), known artistically as Sowet, is a visual artist whose research is rooted in writing and graffiti, practices he has pursued since adolescence. His first interventions in urban space date back to the age of 16, while his approach to muralism began the following year, initiating a continuous body of work on walls. At the same time, he undertook an academic path: he graduated from the Art High School in Pistoia (with a focus on figurative arts), continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and is currently attending LABA – the Free Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Over the past five to six years, he has worked in numerous contexts across Italy and several European countries, creating mural interventions and site-specific projects. In more recent years, his research has progressively shifted toward a renewed focus on painting, maintaining an ongoing dialogue between urban practice and studio work. He currently works in his own atelier, where he develops works on canvas and commissioned projects for public institutions, companies, collectors, and art galleries.
