Diamonds and Ovals I

This is the first in the "Line Painting" series. This work is composed of 18 individual papers, painted and adhered to a wooden surface. The process that arrived at this painting was a revelation to me. I had never made a painting like this before. Each paper was painted individually, independently. They each had the same pattern of lines - diamonds and ovals overlapping. When the papers join one another, the pattern expands and the diamonds and ovals begin to repeat. I then arranged and rearranged the papers until I arrived at the organization you see here.
