Designed in Hackney

Our world is made up of striking patterns and unusual shapes. Searching for and photographing the quiet city details brings me huge joy and makes me feel calm. This mural is inspired by my archive of happy pattern moments that I’ve photographed from around the world - from my home streets here in Hackney, to the geometric architecture in New York, to the stripey shadows on my walks through sunny Berlin. I invite you to put your ‘pattern goggles’ on and view your everyday surroundings with fresh eyes. I hope my work inspires in you a new appreciation for our mighty and spectacular cities. My mural was part of the 'Designed in Hackney' exhibition by Dezeen, which showcased the work of five rising design talents from Hackney, who were nominated by one of east London's most significant designers. The exhibition was at One Hundred Shoreditch, a hotel in east London, and I was nominated by artist Camille Walala.
