I painted this in 2015 while living in Tucson. I had just suffered a heart break I never thought would happen. I broke up with the only person who I had ever truly loved. I was lost. I made the right choice. I was hurting. This was me placing my own heart into the river of the hearts I had broken in my own time. This was also my self-portrait of 2015. The break up happened a week before my birthday that year. This is how I processed it.

Meet the Artist
Newkirk, United StatesI am an Oklahoma based artist. I grew up in Oklahoma and just returned after 20 years. Love inspires all my work. I have been passionate about art for my entire life. I've done commissions for a few business but mostly, I've worked with private clients. I graduated suma cum laude with my degree in Fine Arts, in 2011. I have amazing technical skills. My last show was a group show at Studio Noho, in Los Angeles. It was called tiny embers, small paintings with big ideas. Through the years I have been working mainly in surrealism. Which, I fell in love with thanks to Kay Sage, Dali, and Frida. I would love to work on something for you.
