Dali Oi Mural by Nikki T in London

Dali Oi was a mural commission I did for a tattoo/barber studio located in Hoi An, Vietnam in 2019. I came up with the concept for the tattoo studio/barber shop and on consulting with the team , we chose an appropriate image to paint. The tattoo studio welcomes guests and travelers from all over the world and I wanted to create something fun and relevant to the shop which functioned as a barber shop and hangout area downstairs, leading up to a tattoo studio on the top floor. The wall was located in a dark space so the choice of brightly, coloured patterns really helped to brighten up the space which connected the barbershop and tattoo studio. The mural was executed entirely alone and painted with acrylic paint and paintbrushes which took a over a month to complete. I am an enthusiast for colour and contrast and find the combination of a black and white portrait painted against brilliant, colourful patterns to be quite aesthetically striking. the attention to detail on such a large scale 'canvas' really draws attention to the space. This was an incredible project for me and I do hope to continue with more projects like this in the future.
