This imagery was born from the virus wall I made in Brighton, it shows a daisy chain originally made from tractor tyres in response to living in a farm community under pressure but became symbolic of the spread of virus as times changed. This is my own work, but was included in a project called Tagga Lov, which involved workshops with children where we taught them how to make stencils to use on textiles they had redesigned from scrap materials
Meet the Artist
Benifallet, SpainI am an infamous British street artist who has lived in Catalonia for 12 years, coming from a background of printing subversive T shirt designs at the end of the 90’s I created something that is now a global phenomenon by making the act of creating graffiti legal by only using cleaning processes to create it, this also made dirt and pollution into something valuable. It was and is beautiful and back then I called reverse graffiti. The process of producing the murals is quite specialised. I create bespoke stencil designs (that can then become wooden light boxes) cut from plywood and then pressure wash the designs into walls or paving that need to have some covering of moss or discolouring from biological matter and pollution so a contrast can be made with the parts that are cleaned by the water. I have appeared in publications and newspapers and short films all over the world including the BBC, CNN , Discovery Shorts, The New York Times Ideas of the year, The reverse graffiti project on Youtube registered a million hits in a few weeks and my designs are now in my own carpet range called Revive (Royal Thai). The imagery does not last forever, it is part of the ecosystem it was created in though it can last several years and can also be worked on top of to create depth and background, it is an extremely beautiful and engaging process that people are beguiled by.
