Felix Zilinskas
Felix Zilinskas born in Caracas, Venezuela on February 08, 1974.
He received a scholarship at the age of 15 and parallel to his high school studies he studied art at the Cristobal Rojas National Art School. He works as an art director and creative director for various advertising agencies while maintaining a parallel career in the art world. Over the years, he has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions in Venezuela, the United States of America, England, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Spain, deciding to move to Barcelona, ??Spain, in 2011, where he currently resides.
Felix Zilinskas mixes a blatant handling of color, a unique stroke technique, and a deep level of human thought—a combination that hypnotizes his audience, creating what he calls “pause to think.” This strange combination has allowed it to impact modern culture.
Artist Statement
You don’t choose art. Art chooses you!
Art is a personal need, done from the primitive essence of a being seeking a connection with something superior and transcendent to his reality. When you understand this, you know that as an artist, you are nothing more than a key capable of opening some doors that people can identify with. You understand that your personal experiences no longer belong to you; now, they are tools that come together to create a new language.
Working in advertising gives me the ability to tell stories through images. I learn that what begins as a mistake, like rebellious lines that often intertwine without apparent meaning, transforms into a moment, a fragment of a story that now, as a spectator you can make it your own to complete it or interpret it according to your reality.
