Cottonwood Shores Mural by Lively in San Antonio
Cottonwood Shores Mural
The mural I created spans half as the mural continues on the other side of a wall, it encapsulates the various parks in the town of Cottonwood Shores. It's a visual celebration of the community's green spaces, featuring depictions of each park's unique character. You can see children playing joyfully in the parks, engaging in activities like rollerskating, kayaking, playing basketball, and going down a slide. The green signs show the different names of the parks within the town emphasizing on its community.
Meet the Artist
San Antonio, United StatesMy body of work involves a narrative that is geared towards provoking conversations circulating societal stigma within sub-communities specifically addressing the visceral contradictories and expectations regarding gender including religious affiliated preconcieved ideas of sexuality and negation thereof.
Another contribution of my work involves using myself as a catalyst to the weight we carry and masks that are worn for secrecy in order to adhear to social norms.
My murals are a component of my work of which I find great fulfillment in. Creating murals that tell a story and bring people together is the most rewarding outcome I have had the opportunity to experience. Whether I'm working on a mural for a developing community or a personal commission, my process always begins with extensive research and a deep understanding of the client's needs. When creating murals for developing communities, I am especially mindful of the location's geography and cultural significance. I aim to create a design that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also resonates with the community and reflects their unique identity.
