This piece was used as a promotion portrait for The Australian Refugee Association. I was asked to capture a story of inspiration and positivity - that reflects Australia's great opportunities and support networks for Refugees. This portrait shows the innocence and enthusiasm of a young child, Jessica, who was adopted from her home country and welcomed in Australia.
My art connects with everyday folks and tells meaningful stories about people, place or culture.
I believe art should be both beautiful and functional - whether that means increasing tourism, creating brand awareness, or celebrating a local legend.
I have adapted the classical methods of oil painting, into a contemporary practice that results in unique visual effects that you see in my portfolio.
I aim for the type of painting that makes people stop in their tracks. The type of painting that people will travel to see.
I definitely do not seek to paint the type of painting that prompts the age-old question : "is this really considered art?"
It is my personal mission to elevate, and celebrate everyday people, telling their stories through classical techniques and careful planning.
I am personally inspired by jobs that demand beauty with a business outcome - whether that be increasing visitors, boosting engagement, or activating a space.
Yours Kindly,
Sam.
