Clarion Alley mural by Deadeyes in Richmond
Clarion Alley mural
This piece was painted in SF’s Clarion Alley on a three story building. I used both spray paint and house paint to create the piece.
Meet the Artist
Richmond, United StatesI was born and raised in the Bat Area and the artistic landscape and politics molded me as an artist. My childhood was full of murals from the 70’s and graffiti from the 80’s.
In my early 20s I started doing graphic design and I believe that working with Adobe Illustrator gave me an appreciation for lines.
I was inspired by the street art characters and graffiti in the San Francisco Mission in the late 90's.The freedom I witnessed there made me think of creating art on my own terms and with my own rules. That’s when I began to develop tribal masks. Most of my work falls into the category of Black Futurism, highlighting the play between African patterns and elements of science fiction. My art is known for bold linework and the balance of contour lines and free flow.
