Ankita is an instinctive wilderness artist from Mumbai (urban jungle), Maharashtra, India. Her medium is mostly pen and paper with occasional appearance of cool water color tints and tones of green and blue. Her illustration include detailed intricate patterns and textures, layered organically to represent the natural world.
She has been an avid creator from a young age, always drawn to any creative and self expressive skills. In her teenage years she learnt Indian classical dance, which opened the world of non verbal expression. Communicating through dance and art widened her possibility to tap into a world in her head full of flora and fauna. Over the years Ankita studied Indian textile and design from the National Institute of Design, India. Along with folk dance and art, here she worked closely with various textile artisans learning deeply about color, motifs, symbolism and folk art of India, which is her main source of Inspiration. Most of her work is created by believing all things are inhabited by a spirit and consequently, is sacred.
As an eco - textile designer and doodle artist her obsession for everything nature blossomed going through various classical Indian textile books, dance forms, mythological short stories, Indian folk crafts and stories recited by her parents from their childhood of lush green farms with all its beautiful beings.
