Brigid by Natasha Rose Art in Hamilton

Brigid is the Celtic Goddess and Saint of Spring, Creativity, Fire, Protection, Heaing, and Motherhood. This was a commissioned piece for a client who wanted to celebrate and symbolize her Irish heritage by recognizing and celebrating Brigid in all her elements. She wanted something that would represent all of her aspects, include her symbols and talismans, and embody the dynamics of a tarot card. With a more whimsical and illustrative approach, I designed and completed this piece using oil paint glazes and underpainting. I wanted it to have an antiquated vibe and also resemble the early Christian frescos and paintings common to the 1400's. I finished the piece by adding a border of gold leaf as well as ornamenting her crown and bodice with small gold leaf highlights. The client loved the end result, and let me tell you, the pictures of the piece just don't do it justice!
