Brass Alley by Lauren Luna in Houston
Brass Alley
Brass Alley immerses viewers in a vibrant New Orleans scene. This mural, located in a dining room, captures an alleyway in the French Quarter. A small band of brass musicians plays under a light near a bistro table with wine. Created over a week using interior latex paint, the artwork reflects the lively spirit of the city. The mural suggests a celebration of music and culture, inviting diners to experience the essence of New Orleans. Medium: Interior latex paint.
Meet the Artist
Houston, United StatesI’m inspired by the stories, history, and everyday beauty found in the communities I move through. My work is rooted in connection—between people, place, and memory—and often incorporates layered materials, architectural elements, and cultural references that reflect lived experience.
I love the process of building a piece from concept to completion, watching it evolve through sketching, experimentation, and refinement. Creating allows me to document moments, honor resilience, and turn familiar spaces into something meaningful and lasting.
With over two decades of experience as both a professional artist and educator, my practice spans mixed media, large-scale murals, live painting, and fine art commissions. My work has been exhibited in galleries, festivals, and public spaces, and I’m passionate about using art to inspire confidence, creativity, and pride—especially in young artists and underrepresented communities.
