The first piece created as part of the BLACK X BOLD series in 2021, 'Dare To Be' exudes bravery, confidence and defiance. This piece attests to being proud of who you are, unapologetically. I created the BLACK X BOLD series in response to ongoing conversations, observations and experiences of Black women - how we are often overlooked, unseen and stereotyped. I wanted to create a series which celebrated Black feminine beauty, bravery, boldness in all of its forms. It is a series which sets outs to make us feel proud for being who we each are.
