Birds Nest Self portrait
This piece is inspired by an interaction I had in primary school with another girl. My hair was out and free in a loose afro style, and a girl came up to me and said my hair looked like a birds nest. I replied ‘good’ and smiled. This piece is my embrace and celebration on my hair and heritage, featuring hummingbirds, the national bird of Jamaica.

Manchester, United KingdomI am a Manchester based oil painter who specialises in realism and portraits, I usually work on paper or canvas but have also completed a wall mural in Birmingham. I’m inspired by colours, symbolism and noticing the smallest details which add that extra sense of feeling to a work of art. I take pride in seeing the beauty in everyone’s faces while I paint , using symbolisms such as animals, flowers and other abstract elements to enhance one’s beauty and uniqueness.
