Birds in Our Backyard by STYNA in Sydney
Birds in Our Backyard
Birds in Our Backyard resides at Chester Hill North Public School. This mural is inspired by local birdlife that frequent the school grounds and my own short and joyful memories I have of the Australian Lorikeet and Galahs growing up in the suburbs of Western Sydney. Painted with Dulux Weathershield and Montana Colours in February 2021.
Meet the Artist
Sydney, AustraliaHi! I am Christina, an illustrator and muralist based in Western Sydney who paints under the name STYNA. My art practice involves the creation of murals, illustrations and picture books from differing mediums of pencil, watercolour, ink and pen to acrylic and aerosol. I am inspired by our natural world, heritage, people, place, and good stories!
I have been painting large-scale murals full-time since 2017, using a combination of exterior, water-based acrylic and aerosol. I completed a Bachelor of Design (in Visual Communication) and majored in illustration at Western Sydney University in 2011.
