Meet the Artist
London, United KingdomHello, I’m Baxter. I’m a multi disciplinary artist born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, Now residing in Melbourne, Australia.
Having always aspired to be a large scale muralist my drive is to construct a unique style that not only reflects my capabilities, but also my inspiration and values as an artist. I'm self-taught and a lot of my skillset derives from my 12+ years experience in urban graffiti painting. Tackling a diverse range of briefs and surfaces has informed my practice and given me the ability to work within restraints, as well as a unique outlook on problem solving.
Graffiti is my staple and the reason I do all of this. I've been immersed in it for roughly 12 years. My style isn't your typical idea of graffiti. It's a fusion of traditional, clean-cut painting techniques, mixed with abstract European lettering, conceptual approaches and mark making.
Murals are my fundamental drive. Ive spent many years pioneering a style that is unique, eye catching and thought provoking. It's very inclusive and I feel there's something in it for everyone to enjoy. It all derived from my love of illustration when I enrolled in a graphic design course. I used my drawings skills to my advantage when I wasn't confident with computer programmes.
I have no problem in taking part in live art events. I've conducted graffiti workshops for disenfranchised children in my local area of Govan Hill, Glasgow.
