Big Life Short Time by Mairead in Chicago

Mairead was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago where she found solace in every form of art. As an interdisciplinary creator, she exercises multiple passions - painting, apparel design, botany, interior styling, logo creation and brand design. Mairead’s works are formed through a gestural process. There are no limitations to what she considers a canvas. She is intrigued by how our daily behaviors are influenced and what drives us as humans, consciously and unconsciously. Fueled by the physical release of energy and emotion, Mairead strives to blend together what is real and what is imaginary, in contrast to our perception of it. Her works are typically created using acrylic paint, pastel, spray paint and pencil. Aspects of the human portrait are expressed through bright colors and intricate lines. The main goal is for the viewer to be touched by the artwork, in the hope that they are able to find a piece of themselves within the abstract & surreal. Mairead aims to make the viewer pause, if even for a moment.
