Bianco Collage Perla 30x30 by Kim Fonder in Tulsa
Bianco Collage Perla 30x30
The morning hours possess a certain clarity that can’t be replicated later in the day. It’s in that quiet, untouched light that I find myself drawn back to the rhythmic nature of repetition.
With Bianco Collage Perla, the process became an exercise in patience and touch. I chose a base of raw, coarse burlap over a sturdy wooden panel, letting the heavy, honest weave of the natural fibers dictate the grounding structure of the piece. Over this layer, I hand-troweled mixed media in an intentional, breathing grid. Each mark is slightly unique—an archive of a specific moment, capturing the subtle micro-shadows as the side-light shifts across the room.
To bring a quiet depth to the monochrome palette, I incorporated a delicate trace of metallic paint within the alabaster tones. It doesn’t shout; instead, it catches the morning sun with a soft, pearl-like luminescence (Perla) that feels both ancient and entirely modern. It is a piece that brings a sense of permanent, quiet belonging to a minimalist home.
