Art Masters Series: Inspired by Van Gogh by Julia Suptel in Dresden
Art Masters Series: Inspired by Van Gogh
Every workshop in this series is aimed to explore world famous artists and their styles a litte deeper, going beyond their most well-known images or analyzing them and transforming into our own oil pastel artworks.
In each workshop I try to teach a new technique: "Monet class" was all about color palettes and background color to enhance the final work; "Klimt class" was an exploration of his lesser known landscape works, mixed with iconic golden details; and "Van Gogh class" is dedicated to his expressive pastose brushwork and texture.
What to expect from this workshop:
Exploration of Van Gogh's landscapes and color palettes
Practicing expressive mark-making with oil pastels
Working with palette knife for extra texture
Step-by-step guidance
All materials included
Friendly relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Dresden-Neustadt
No prior art experience required.
Meet the Artist
Dresden, GermanyI'm a pastel and mixed-media artist of Ukrainian origin based in Dresden since 2015. In my artistic practice I strive for uplifting the spirit, anchoring as much light and quiet joy as I can. My recurrent themes are floral arrangements and everyday scenes that often show the slipping beauty of a moment. Soft and oil pastels allow me to make the creation process very tactile and body-aware, resisting the digital overstimulation.
In my offline oil pastel workshops I try to create the atmosphere that allows both fellow-artists and absolute beginners feel the joy of using this material. I've developed around 10 different workshops, some focusing on master artists of the past, some - on more technical sides, others are on the intersection of entertainment, art therapy and art course. But all of them include methodological part that helps the participants better understand and learn certain techniques, as well as bring home a finished artwork, sometimes the first one ever.
