Mural for My Studio Space
I created this mural for my studio space to attract and engage onlookers, while also beautifying an area that lacked public art. This piece reflects the beauty of feminine divinity and honors the elements of nature—like the sun—along with the symbolism of birds and the roots of my native ancestry. All of these are intertwined with vibrant colors and a sense of serenity. The birds and the feathers in her hair are woven together in a surrealistic fashion, representing interconnectedness and transformation. I’ve also integrated colors within her skin to signify the changing tones of human complexion, celebrating the beauty that diversity encapsulates. My hope is that this mural will spark conversation and draw new artists and art lovers to Koreatown, where my studio resides, creating a space for creativity and connection.
I have always dreamt of opening up a creative space to encourage my community to tap into their creative senses, and feel pride for their neighborhood. This year I have opened my new studio space in Los Angeles. Here I can create new works, have a space for clientele to meet, and also be able to host shows and classes for my community. This mural for the studio was a way to honor my passion for feminine divinity and my native roots while sparking conversation within a neighborhood that was lacking public art.
This mural was created for my new studio in Koreatown, not just to beautify an area lacking public art but to engage and inspire those who encounter it. The piece embodies the beauty of feminine divinity, honoring the sun, nature, birds, and my Native American roots. Through vibrant colors and a surrealistic design, the intertwined birds and feathers in her hair represent interconnectedness and transformation. I’ve woven colors into her skin to celebrate the diverse beauty of human complexion, reflecting the richness of our shared experience.
Opening my studio in Los Angeles has been a dream come true—a place where I can create, connect with clients, and host events and classes for the community. This mural is a tribute to both my passion for feminine strength and my heritage, with the hope of sparking conversation and drawing new artists and art lovers to Koreatown. It’s a space for creativity, pride, and connection in a neighborhood that’s ready to embrace public art.
