Anne Boleyn by Studio Boki in Flackwell Heath

Anne Boleyn

The second piece in my Prominent Women series. I have always found Anne Boleyn to be both crucial and intriguing figure in English history, and this only increased as I have gotten older, and my understand and knowledge of the Tudors broadened. I was inspired to do this piece having read Hayley Nolan's book on Anne Boleyn which makes a compelling case to challenge the narrative of scheming seductress, where she is purveyed as a progressive, loyal and ethical queen with admirable qualities. The symbolism I included include unconventional visual references through use of print and colour, to faith, loyalty, intelligence, all the while maintaining the essence of the iconic portrait that we are familiar with. Media: Pencil, ink, digital
