Creating this piece in New Orleans was a journey as vibrant and layered as the city itself. Commissioned as part of a series inspired by stamp-like designs, this artwork captures the soul of New Orleans through bold lines, rich textures, and dynamic colors. Using a mix of acrylics, markers, and oil sticks, I built layers to mimic the weathered yet timeless feel of vintage stamps. Each stroke carried the rhythm of the city, and the vibrant palette echoed the lively Mardi Gras hues. Incorporating textures and patterns from local iconography, I aimed to distill the essence of New Orleans into a small, striking frame—a piece that feels both nostalgic and contemporary, much like the city itself.
