A Safe Place To Lay Your Head by Candy Kuo in Austin

A Safe Place To Lay Your Head

For the inaugural mural festival hosted by the City of Beaumont, we were invited to create large-scale murals in various locations throughout the city for the downtown community in Beaumont, Texas. Researching the local wildlife, the artists on this building decided to focus on the local flora and fauna. I wanted to paint a peaceful symbiotic relationship between man and nature. I chose to have mother nature represented by a buck with yellow roses growing out of the antlers. The fresh blooms attract local hummingbirds, and a child sleeps peacefully upon her back. I actually referenced an image of my own daughter for this piece, and this was my first time painting her on a mural.
