Alexis and Xenia contacted me with interest in painting a wall in the outdoor space of their house. They wanted something beautiful to embellish their home and something their kids could grow with.
A private moment for their family that also had a wonderful opportunity to give to the public as well.
The top half of the wall peers over the adjoining wooden fence and is visible to the neighborhood. As a gift to the people in the community we utilized the local symbols of the area into the design.
The American Shad fish in honor of the areas name, Fishtown, and Cattails and Yellow Pond Lily's frame the wall representing the local flora in and around the nearby Delaware River.
The Shad fish faces the street and greets the people as they pass by.
All in shades of blue that match the interior tile floor in their kitchen and gives a feeling of water and painted porcelain on the clean and crisp white wall.
It is an absolute honor to be able to continue to bring color and stylized symbolism to embellish the moments in peoples lives.
I appreciate and cherish every moment of it.
My artwork and designs are based on wanting to share the feeling I get when experiencing the world with an open and creative way of seeing and thinking. I want to reveal the energy and emotion that lies beneath the surface of everything we see. Show the beauty along with the imperfections of nature.
When I create, I transform familiar subjects into conceptual representations. By deconstructing the physical existence of figures, florals, and fauna, I reveal the power, energy and spirit that connects all things and beings.
With a foundation in drawing, painting and design the applications of which my work can embellish is infinite. Described as bold, beautiful, intricate and iconic my art can be dissected and remixed to build larger extensions of work. A visual language that can transcend mediums that all speak back to its visual roots.
What motivates me to continue to create is knowing the powerful effect that art and design can have on people. How important it is to have experiences with creativity that can show all of us new ways of thinking, open different ways to look inside ourselves and unveil extraordinary ways to see the world.
