A Palate of Persistance
This mural was a collaboration with Atlantic City youth from the Leaders in Training (LIT) Workforce Development Program at Atlantic Cape’s Charles D. Worthington campus, honoring the memory and works of Jacob Lawrence, an early-20th-century Atlantic City native painter. The project was conceived by Valeria Marcus, a longtime admirer of Lawrence, and was coordinated with the Atlantic City Arts Foundation, which selected the campus due to its proximity to Lawrence's birthplace. The mural reflects Lawrence's style and themes, paying tribute to his artistic legacy. The involvement of LIT program members, who helped create the murals, provided them with valuable workforce and life skills while fostering a sense of pride and community connection.
