A foggy day by Svitlana in Vancouver
A foggy day
For this painting I used watercolour, gouache and a bit of oil pencils.
While creating the painting, I was thinking about Vancouver, a place where the ancient and timeless (the wilderness, the trees, the mountains) meets the modern and vibrant (bars, clubs, and nightlife).
What I realize afterwards is that the painting also echoes an old fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, where a young girl meets a Creature because of a flower.
Another unexpected connection revealed itself when I finished: the imagery of Tarot the Ten of Cups. This card symbolizes harmony, love, peace, and the feeling of being in paradise.
The artwork is framed and ready to hang.

Meet the Artist
Vancouver, CanadaI'm an artist with a diverse background, having worked in various professions.
I was working as an animator, illustrator, graphic designer, interior designer, bookseller before pursuing a career in art.
Growing up in Kyiv, Ukraine, during a time of societal change, I spent my summers in my grandmother's village in the south of the country, where I developed a deep appreciation for nature and fairy tales. My work is rooted in belief that there is beauty and humour to be found in even the most ordinary moments. Currently residing in Vancouver, I draw inspiration from the abundance of nature that surrounds me.
The majority of time I'm working with oil painting, gouache and watercolour, but I also love experimenting with other materials and make works using oil pastels, coloured pencils, ink etc.
