A child's curiosity is inspired by my reignited interest in achieving the curiosity I had as a child since I felt it fading away. In the process I appreciate the fact that being happy is heavily influenced by how we satisfy our inner child. To tell this story effectively, I choose ballpoint pen as my media. The delicate pressure and precision required to create a smooth transition on a child's face, was to enhance the message of how it requires thorough self scrutiny to reignite the inner child in us. The piece took a total of 29 hrs of work that I deem worthy. It is a ballpoint pen on paper leaning on photorealism and expressionism to tell a universal yet a personal story too.

Meet the Artist
Nairobi, KenyaMoffat is a Kenyan visual artist whose work is an intersection of emotion, observation, and quiet complexity with his art that explores paradoxes, stillness and Purpose.
Working with expressive line, signature monochrome blue, controlled colour, and intentional negative space, Moffat approaches art as both a personal language and a universal dialogue. Rather than dictating meaning, his work opens space for personal interpretation, allowing each viewer to find their own connection within the piece.
Influenced by human experience, introspection, and the unseen narratives that shape everyday life, his art balances restraint with emotional intensity. Each artwork is carefully considered, emphasizing that meaning does not require excess.
Beyond the canvas, Moffat’s background in science and rehabilitation medicine subtly informs his artistic perspective, adding depth, structure, and emotional awareness to his work. For him, art is a paradox — simple in form, yet layered with complexity.
