"WARRiOR II" by Andrew Purdie in Auckland

"WARRiOR II"

The "WARRiOR II" is a rendition of the original work, 'WARRiOR' (sold in 2020, $5k), which is also the Greek Goddess Diana but only painted in red and white acrylic surrounding the charcoal bust, center. The piece represents the juxtapositions of old and new school art in the form of a singularity between humanity and technology (i.e., AI). Based on the Greek Goddess, Diana, a Roman and Hellenistic religion, is primarily considered a patroness of the countryside, hunters, crossroads, and the Moon. She is equated with the Greek goddess Artemis, and absorbed much of Artemis' mythology early in Roman history, including a birth on the island of Delos to parents Jupiter and Latona, and a twin brother, Apollo, though she had an independent origin in Italy. The 3D-printed styled section at the back of the head is a play on modern artistry and AI. The multifocal point, turquoise dot above head, symbolizes the firing synapses in the brain which are inspired by independent thought, creativity and choice. The concentration, once complete, will include 13 Greek Gods.
