"Cheers to Cincy: Brewing the American Dream" by Turtle Child in Cincinnati
"Cheers to Cincy: Brewing the American Dream"
In partnership with the Boston Beer Corporation (Sam Adams). The mural is designed by Tom Post. It celebrates Cincinnati’s brewing heritage and history, its legacy and influence in the larger industry, and its community of skilled brewers. This mural evokes a sense of optimism, industriousness, and revolutionary spirit. This massive mural is one of Cincinnati's largest and took over 4 months to complete. I was a teaching artist on this mural and helped lead a team of 12 apprentices.
Meet the Artist
Cincinnati, United StatesMy name is Tamia, aka "Turtle Child". (artist name) I'm an illustrator and muralist based in the beautiful Cincinnati,OH. I've been an artist for as long as I can remember, and took up mural painting in 2014 and have loved doing it for 10 years. I enjoy seeing art come to life on many different surfaces throughout my city. The are so many stories to tell, and I want to see them all!
I frequently use the chrysanthemum flower as a motif for the heart. This is my way of showcasing the many forms the heart can take in the face of human emotions. Emphasizing its fragility and constant need for care. I rely on storytelling through imaginative illustrations and character designs to further expand on this idea. By taking this approach, I try to reassure others they are not alone in their pursuit for emotional peace.
