MiniMart Petersham Mural by Rowland Studio in Sydney
MiniMart Petersham Mural
This mural was created for a concept store in Petersham NSW for their monthly night markets. I based the design on historical real estate subdivision plans from the area in the late 1800's which feature some beautiful typography and ornamental elements. It was painted with acrylic paint using traditional sign writing techniques. I was interested in exploring the juxtaposition between old and new, and how this affects our sense of place and belonging.

Rowland Studio is a Sydney-based studio that specialises in hand-drawn elements like live-scribing, hand-painted signage and murals. Emma uses multiple visual methods to fill your spaces, communicate your ideas and broadcast your brand.
She’s inspired by small town hand-painted signs, historical lettering ephemera, Studio Ghibli and nerding-out on typography everywhere. Emma is experienced in delivering creative, engaging, experiential solutions. Skills include; live painting, graphic recording, hand painted signage, murals, illustration and design.
