In my case, I am inspired by beauty or loveliness. I am so attracted to simple elegance especially, whether it is art, music, dance, or pretty much anything in the natural world. I am not influenced or inspired by trends or Hype. I could easily say that I am successful because of what I have chosen to paint. In my opinion, people with good taste enjoy decorating their homes with lovely things to look at and spend time seeing. People who enjoy beautiful art also seem to be easier to get along with, they have pleasant personalities, they don’t dicker about price, they seem to know what is lovely in human nature, and they make good friends. The people who are attracted to what I think of as ugly or insincere art, are usually, in my experience, very hard to get along with, they complain about everything, they dicker about the price, they almost always tell you what they would do if they were the artist; and often they lie, cheat, and steal, or don’t want to pay; as if, because it’s too pretty, they are exempt from paying for it. In my opinion, they are very much like the art that they are attracted to: “Ugly!”
