About
Julie Engelmann is a surfer, freediver, and artist. She often creates ocean-inspired work, yet does not limit herself. She believes to create art is to bring something unique to the mundane and make space for new meaning and a different perspective. We are in a technological grip that has made our world minimalistic and uninteresting. Through her art, she hopes to enlighten others and inspire creativity. Julie studied philosophy and psychology at the University of Oxford and began pursuing an art career after she tried and disliked working in non-creative lab and corporate settings. Although her work has been displayed in numerous shows and critically acclaimed galleries, she prides herself on breaking the traditional high-brow gallery route and works with her clients on a personal level to bring their artistic ideas to life. Additionally, she works as an assistant painter for world renowned multidisciplinary artist, Allison Torneros, known in the art world as “Hueman,” and helped create paintings for the award-winning immersive arts experience Hueman Homebody. She currently resides in her home town in the Bay Area as she builds her career.
