(b. 1989) Born and raised in New York City. She began to sketch as early as 7 years old. Jesica is a self taught painter. Her paintings often depict her subjects in their most vulnerable states with the intention to convey them with honesty and sensitivity. Growing up in Harlem in the early 90’s has shaped her to be well versed in her artistry given Harlem’s rich culture in literary, visual and performing arts. Instead of tearing pages from magazines to paste on the bedroom walls, she was sketching them.
Artist view the world in a different kind of way. Rather than seeing a rusty nail, they see browns, golds and oranges. Jesica’s true passion lies in studying the world in a way that most people don’t. She loves to explore the visual attributes and aesthetic properties that make up a person and examine how they can be expressed through different colors, shapes and tones.
Having had such inspiring teachers and role models in her own life, she firmly believes in sharing her passion and knowledge of the arts with other aspiring artists and to be a source for a different kind of knowledge. One that allows them to be themselves and true to what they feel. Jesica feels art is the only subject that teaches you to find yourself. Showing them that there is no right or wrong answer when dealing with this subject and to keep an open mind when introduced to new mediums.
