German-Egyptian Artist Tarek Aly (*1992, Hamburg, lives and works in Berlin) 2010-2017 studied architecture at the University of the Arts, Berlin. Tarek Aly works across the genres: murals, canvases, sketchbooks, as well as collages and mixed media sculptures, tirelessly create new spheres. From monochrome architectural drawings, which Aly captures in detail in his surroundings, to figurative fantasy worlds and expressive abstraction. In the collages on display he works with objects found in historical print media. They open up architectural spaces which, on closer inspection, turn out to be utopian structures, like a work by M.C. Escher.
