One Eighty by One Eighty in Bentleigh East

I’m Kate, the artist behind One Eighty, a Melbourne-based calligraphy and street art practice built on honest expression and real conversations. One Eighty began during the lockdowns, when I started painting mantras to get myself through a rough patch. It was about changing the way I spoke to my own mind. That personal habit quickly became the work I couldn’t stop doing. My art combines bold black-letter calligraphy, hand-painted text, and street-inspired techniques to create murals, original artworks, and public pieces. The words I paint are simple and direct, made to sit with you, interrupt your thoughts, and shift how you feel. I’ve painted walls and shown work across Australia at festivals, events, and exhibitions, and held my first solo show in November 2024. The work often opens up conversations around mental health, resilience, and choosing a different direction. Alongside my art practice, I work as a graphic and web designer, helping brands with logos, websites, and creative direction. I also run calligraphy workshops where people can slow down, pick up a pen, and spend time making something. One Eighty is about turning words into action, one shift at a time.
